Computers are now used in practically every area of human endeavor. Job opportunities in computer and information science are challenging and diverse, and demand for computer science graduates is expected to remain strong over the next decade. The faculty of the Department of Computer is involved in research at the frontiers of many key areas of computer science. Areas of active research include algorithms, computational geometry, computational learning theory, databases, wireless networks, network security, distributed systems, data compression, image processing and understanding, multimedia, software engineering and testing, data mining, and information retrieval. The diploma program in Computer Engg is designed to educate students with a broad intellectual base, well-developed interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills and a mastery of the appropriate elements of the discipline of Computer Engg. The objective of this program is to develop students’ critical thinking and to refine their analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. This course equip students with strong practical and theoretical knowledge of computer software and hardware.

This branch deals with design and construction of computers, development of computer programs (software) and computer based information and control systems. In its most general form it is concerned with the understanding of information compilation, transfer and transformation Students in the department have access to a wide variety of computer equipment, including an extensive network and Intel-based machines. In addition, there are specialized instructional and research labs for database systems, parallel and distributed computing, security, software engineering, wireless networks, computer graphics, vision and image processing, and web search technology, which are used in advanced courses and research projects

On completion of Diploma in Engg., plenty of career opportunities exist in the IT industry. The students can go for further studies like the B.E/ B. Tech. Courses. They can find openings as software engineers, system developers and programmers. They get sufficient opportunity to learn PC hardware so that they can become Hardware Engineers. They can become network engineers. They are eligible for the Apprenticeship training program in HAL, NAL, etc. Infinite opportunities in the field of Web and Multimedia designing are available for Diploma holders. In Last years the students are working TCS, Wipro, HCL etc. Most MNCs prefer diploma students for BPO and Call Centre jobs.
